Navigating ADHD Testing & Treatment for Women: Renewing Mindsets Offers Tailored Support

Are you a woman in Philadelphia struggling with ADHD symptoms? Despite common misconceptions, ADHD affects women as much as men, but it often goes unnoticed and untreated. Renewing Mindsets specializes in comprehensive ADHD testing and personalized treatment plans designed specifically for women. Our team of female ADHD specialists is dedicated to understanding the unique ways ADHD manifests in women and crafting holistic solutions to help them thrive.

Understanding ADHD Testing Designed for Women

Testing for ADHD in women requires a specialized approach due to differences in symptom presentation compared to men. While hyperactivity and impulsivity may be more evident in boys, women often experience challenges with:

  1. Inattention, disorganization, and forgetfulness

  2. Chronic lateness and difficulty completing tasks

  3. Low motivation, inner restlessness, and emotional sensitivity

  4. Mood swings, stress overwhelm, and impulse control

Our ADHD specialists conduct thorough evaluations using a variety of methods, including clinical interviews, rating scales, and cognitive testing. This comprehensive approach ensures accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment plans tailored to each woman's needs.

Comprehensive ADHD Treatment Tailored to Women's Needs

Once diagnosed, we develop holistic treatment plans that address the unique challenges faced by women with ADHD. Our approach includes:

  1. Medication Management: Finding the right ADHD medications and dosages to minimize side effects and track progress over time.

  2. Lifestyle Adjustments: Offering guidance on sleep, exercise, nutrition, and stress reduction to enhance daily functioning.

  3. Psychotherapy: Addressing ADHD-related issues such as negative thought patterns and relationship problems through counseling approaches like CBT and emotion-focused therapy.

  4. ADHD Coaching: Teaching organization strategies, running educational groups, and providing parenting guidance to capitalize on strengths and compensate for deficits.

  5. Holistic Wellness: Encouraging activities like mindfulness, yoga, and creative expression to support healing on all levels.

By combining evidence-based treatments with compassionate support, we empower women to manage ADHD challenges, embrace neurodiversity, and thrive.

Common Signs of ADHD in Women

While ADHD symptoms can overlap between genders, certain characteristics are more frequently seen in women. Consider an ADHD evaluation if you relate to several of these:

  • Extreme disorganization and forgetfulness

  • Restlessness and feeling internally rushed

  • Difficulty completing tasks and following through

  • Chronic lateness and frequently misplacing items

  • Emotional sensitivity, mood swings, and stress overwhelm

  • Impulse shopping/spending or substance misuse

  • Low motivation, severe procrastination, and neglecting self-care

If these symptoms significantly impair your work, relationships, or daily life, seeking testing can provide clarity and relief. Our compassionate specialists are here to listen to your struggles and help you find answers.

Schedule an Appointmet
  • What is the soonest that I can be seen?
The fastest way to be seen is through a virtual session, which we can typically schedule within 1-3 days. We can start both the psychiatric evaluation and the ADHD comprehensive assessment virtually. The first part of the ADHD assessment, the psychiatric evaluation, will be done virtually, and then you can come into the office for in-person testing within the next few days. Alternatively, you have the option to complete the entire ADHD comprehensive assessment in one visit to our office.
  • Do you assist with accommodations for school and referral letters?
Yes, we do. At Renewing Mindsets, we assist with accommodations for school, referral letters, and psychiatric evaluation letters for individuals who have been tested with us and meet the diagnosis criteria. We have helped our clients with accommodation letters for exams such as the LSAT for law school, the MCAT for medical school, the NCLEX for nursing school, as well as the NBME and the MBE (Multistate Bar Examination). Additionally, we write accommodation letters for individuals needing workplace accommodations.
  • I'm located in State College, PA, or Pittsburgh, and I'm interested in ADHD testing, a psychiatric evaluation, or psychiatric care. Can I be seen quickly?
A: Absolutely! We provide virtual services throughout Pennsylvania, including State College, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia. In State College and Pittsburgh, we exclusively see clients virtually, which has been very well-received by our clients who appreciate the flexibility and convenience of accessing care from anywhere. Clients are usually seen virtually within 1-3 days. Through our secure portal, you'll have 24/7 access to resources, prompt communication with our team, and timely, thorough reports. We’re here to support you every step of the way!
  • How Does ADHD testing work?
For individuals seeking clarity on ADHD symptoms, adhd diagnosis, or requiring accommodations, our ADHD Comprehensive Evaluation is recommended and offers a thorough assessment that includes both virtual and in-person psychiatric evaluations, followed by in-person computerized ADHD testing. ADHD Comprehensive Evaluation ($460): Includes psychiatric evaluation with computerized TOVA testing. Evaluations can be conducted virtually and in person. This is essential for those seeking an ADHD diagnosis, accommodation, or treatment planning. Standardized ADHD Testing ($255): The purpose of T.O.V.A. (Test of Variables of Attention) testing is to objectively assess attention-related difficulties, such as those associated with ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder). This does not include a diagnosis but is to accompany a previous provider's specific request for diagnostic testing only. Accommodations: To obtain ADHD accommodations, a comprehensive ADHD evaluation is necessary, and we provide accommodation letters for an additional fee of $95.
  • I was previously diagnosed. Will you manage my treatment and medication?
Currently no, we do not manage ongoing treatment and medication for previously diagnosed individuals. Our focus is primarily on conducting ADHD evaluations and ensuring availability for our new patients seeking treatment management.
  • Do you accept insurance?
Hi, thank you for reaching out to Renewing Mindsets. We are an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance for ADHD testing. However, we strive to keep our services affordable, with pricing starting at $95. We accept HSA, FSA, debit, and credit card payments. Additionally, we can create a superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. You can view our appointment availability and detailed pricing on our "Schedule an Appointment" section of the website.
